How We Take Action

We know that telling the truth about wealth and our class backgrounds help expose how deeply unjust and racist the U.S. economic system is and makes our movements for economic and racial justice stronger.

This is why our organizing, story-telling, and programming in RG spaces focuses on the personal, the political, and the systemic in an attempt to make transparent our collective histories and therefore responsibilities as young people with access to wealth and/or class privilege to poor and working-class led movements fighting for racial, economic, and social justice.

Since its founding in 1998, thousands of young folks have connected with Resource Generation to help square their politics with their values, meaningfully leverage their privilege(s), and understand their collective stake in a future where wealth, land, and power are equitably shared.

We organize to bring our collective power as young people with wealth to challenge racial capitalism at its root, be in solidarity with poor and working-class led movements to effect systemic change, and work toward the equitable distribution of wealth, land, and power.

OUR ANNUAL FLAGSHIP CONFERENCE AIMS TO GENERATE VISIONS OF A FUTURE IN WHICH WEALTH, LAND, AND POWER ARE EQUITABLY SHARED.
MMMC is an intimate space that uses workshops, storytelling, and skill-building to create a space for young people with class privilege and wealth to explore questions of identity and responsibility in a supportive environment. MMMC programming is dynamic and specific to young people with wealth who are interested in social justice. Whether you have been grappling with what it means to have class privilege for some time and value social change, or you are new to thinking about these topics, we invite you to attend and explore these topics in community.

THROUGHOUT THE CONFERENCE, PARTICIPANTS WILL SUPPORT, CHALLENGE, AND INSPIRE EACH OTHER TO ALIGN RESOURCES AND ACCESS TO WEALTH WITH THEIR VALUES.
MMMC is always a multi-class space. The programming is designed for young people (18-35) with wealth and partners of young people with wealth; however, social justice movement leaders, Resource Generation staff, and other presenters from various class backgrounds are present and a vital part of MMMC. It’s a great opportunity to practice healthy cross-class dynamics and to lovingly self-reflect on how class privilege manifests.

Resource Generation has held a biennial Transforming Philanthropy convening for High Net Wealth and Family Philanthropy members for over a decade. Transforming Philanthropy is an intimate conference for young people (18-35) who are involved with family philanthropy or high net wealth (have access to $1M in liquid assets*). The conference is a multi-day deep dive into the nuances and practicalities of wealth redistribution with an emphasis on best donor practices, shared decision-making, and rethinking traditional philanthropy. Through skill-building workshops, action planning sessions, and expert panel discussions, the conference equips young people with the relationships, skills, and vision to be part of transforming philanthropy towards more liberatory practices.
