Resource Generation Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Resource Generation (“we” or “RG”) collects, secures, uses and discloses your Personal Information. RG operates the resourcegeneration.org website, as well as sharemycheck.org, makingmoneymakechange.org and rgaction.org, (collectively, “the Site”).

“Personal Information” is information that uniquely identifies you or can identify you by combining it with other data. It includes your name combined with other information associated with you, such as email address, phone number, postal address and birthdate. The legal name and definition of personal information differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Your continued use of the Site constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, as amended from time to time.

As set forth below, RG and Local Chapters are committed to exercise confidentiality as it concerns Personal Information about members, staff, and community partners. If you have questions about these practices, contact [email protected].

RG and Local Chapters. We are a social justice organization that organizes young people (18-35 years old) with wealth in the U.S to become transformative leaders working towards the equitable distribution of wealth, land and power. For our purposes, we define wealth as roughly in the top 10% of the US economy. RG hosts national conferences, builds leadership, and engages in a variety of collective actions, including its annual conference, “Making Money Make Change.”

In addition, RG members operate separate, place-based “Local Chapters” in cities, towns and college campuses. Local Chapters host activities such as meetings, workshops, donor circles, and other collective actions. Members may engage in “Praxis,” a fixed-duration, peer-learning program focused on our relationship to and understanding of class privilege, wealth, giving, and more.

Local Chapters may use RG national systems such as EveryAction to support their local and digital organizing efforts under the guidance of RG national policies and procedures. In addition to EveryAction, Local Chapters may use other digital platforms, including email, text and social media, to communicate with their members and collect information for organizing purposes. RG national does not manage these platforms, and members should inquire of the Local Chapter with respect to their use.

Information We Collect. RG may collect your Personal Information when you directly submit it to us on registration forms or pledges, donate to RG, or provide it during interactions with Local Chapters or the public through social media, listservs and other digital platforms. For wealth-specific information we may collect and share, see the “Wealth Specific Information” sections below.

When you visit our website, we collect other data that may not be Personal Information, such as your activity on the site, the websites you visited before and after our Site, and the type of device you used to access our Site. We use the information we collect from and about visitors to our Site to improve our Site and analyze its usage by visitors.

Use & Sharing of Your Personal Information. RG may disclose certain Personal Information to third parties: (a) to manage the Site and databases with the help of service providers who are obligated to maintain the confidentiality of any provided Personal Information; (b) to send you communications about your interactions with us or about features of the Site; (c) as required by law or requested by governmental or law enforcement authorities, subpoena, court order or discovery request, or when we otherwise believe in good faith that such disclosure is appropriate in connection with any activity that may violate the law, this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Use, or the rights of others, threaten the safety or security of any person or property (including the Site) or expose us to liability; or (e) as part of a merger, divestiture or sale of our organization or its assets.

Wealth Specific Information Collected. To advance our mission, RG may ask individuals to volunteer information related to their net wealth. All data related to giving commitments, overall net assets or other wealth specific information received from individuals is maintained in a platform called EveryAction. Access to EveryAction is restricted to RG national staff, board and committee members, and select Local Chapter leaders for internal, organizing-related purposes only.

In EveryAction, we maintain certain wealth specific information: whether you have self-identified as a “constituent” (between the ages of 18-35 with access to wealth) on our Membership form; notes from any subsequent one-to-one conversation with RG staff or Local Chapter leaders about your wealth and access to it; the social justice organizations you identify on our Redistribution Pledge, your planned contributions to them, and whether you fulfill them.

Access to and Sharing of Wealth Specific Information. RG and Local Chapter leaders with access to Wealth Specific Information in EveryAction sign a Confidentiality Agreement that limits its disclosure. We may share the aggregated pledge totals contained in EveryAction with social justice organizations to whom pledges are planned. At times, with your permission, national RG staff may share an individual member’s first name, last initial and pledged amount with a named social justice organization so the organization can anticipate the financial gift pledged.
