WHAT IS A MEMBERSHIP DRIVE?
RG is a membership organization. Each year, we run time-bound Membership Drives to draw in new members, build organizing skills with existing leadership, fund our budget, and uplift RG as a membership-based organization and political home. During membership drives, we also elevate the Redistribution Pledge as an organizing tool and to build momentum around wealth redistribution.
The more that RG mobilizes members to boldly commit to wealth redistribution, the more that movements benefit. In 2024 alone, nearly 450 people signed our Redistribution Pledge, committing $106 million to resource movements and build the world to come. Beyond the pledge, our resource mobilization work supports our national campaign partners, Movement 4 Black Lives and Popular Democracy, and invests in chapter-led and working-group-led fundraising for local campaign partners.
By providing resources, leadership development and skill-building opportunities, organizing coaching and support, RG provides critical infrastructure to mobilize resources and redistribute wealth. We ask members to commit no more than 5-10% of their overall redistribution to funding RG’s work. When both membership asks and Redistribution Pledge asks are leveraged as base-building tools, they bolster chapter capacity, expand our organizing efforts, and help reach partners’ fundraising goals.
