RG Baltimore

Chapter History

RG Baltimore organizes young people (18-35) with wealth and class privilege to become transformative leaders working towards the equitable distribution of wealth, land and power in the city.

Our chapter started in 2020 after a few folks who participated in a Praxis group decided to keep meeting after Praxis ended. Since then, we’ve run additional Praxis groups and established relationships with local Black-led food sovereignty and immigrant justice organizations. Due to limited capacity and our small size, we are considered an “emerging” chapter focused on stewarding our organizational partnerships, hosting workshops, and supporting each other in the work of dismantling our class privilege and funding liberation.

Chapter Organizing Goals

Stemming from its long history of redlining and segregation, Baltimore continues to be a deeply divided city across race and class lines. Currently, our dues-paying members are predominantly White transplants to Baltimore. We are committed to building a multiracial base of young people with wealth/class privilege. As a chapter, we are strategically building partnerships with organizations that center Black and Brown Baltimoreans and connection to the land.

We have a partnership with Black Yield Institute with the goal of providing strategic funding and support for their work toward Black land and food sovereignty in South Baltimore. We also encourage our members to support CASA, a leading immigrant justice organization and an affiliate of the Center for Popular Democracy, one of RG’s national partners.

Chapter Programming

We semi-regularly coordinate skill shares and workshops for Baltimore RGers to deepen their capacity to redistribute resources and move in alignment with their values. We have also run several Praxis groups and are excited to run more in the future when there is interest amongst a critical mass of 6-8 people.

We hope that you will join us in our efforts to build a more equitable city where we all have enough and find a community of peers committed to personal and collective transformation.
