Aarati K.

Interim Executive Director

Aarati (pronounced Arthi) was born in India and raised on unceded Lenape territory in Wilmington, Delaware. She has been working in various movement roles (crisis counselor, domestic violence advocate, education specialist, program officer, director of programs, and organizational consultant) for social justice since 1999, and was politicized through Incite! Women and Trans people Against Violence in the early 2000s. For the last seven years, Aarati has worked as a consultant with Dragonfly Partners. Before that she was the Director of Programs at Bread & Roses Community Fund.

Aarati comes from an upper caste family, and was raised with earned-income/education related class privilege which shaped her in ways that resulted in her getting a PhD in Community Psychology. She has been unlearning caste and class privilege and has lots of work left to do.

Aarati’s work is informed by and in service of her community of family, friends, and circles of solidarity. She is a mom to two teens, a caregiver to aging parents, a spouse, an aunty, and companion to her two dogs. She lives in Philly and is an active member of her neighborhood community. Creativity, spirituality, and joy are at the center of all she does.

Aarati has worked actively for wealth redistribution for the last eleven years and is proud to be serving as RG’s Interim Executive Director.
